A Tale of Love and Honor

Sunset Greetings

A Planned Serendipity on Platform No. 3

It was just a few days before Diwali, and the atmosphere was electric with anticipation and joy. Homes shimmered with colorful lights, oil lamps lit doorsteps, and children's laughter echoed through the streets as firecrackers popped in celebration.

A planned serendipity on platform no 3

The sky started to glow with the promise of fireworks. There's a sense of community and togetherness in the air. I was walking through the streets when my girlfriend called my name — her voice a mix of excitement and nervousness.

“Hey, so...my mom is coming to take me home for the holidays,” she began, hesitating slightly. “She'll be here by tomorrow morning.”

“That's great! You must be excited to see her,” I replied, though a twinge of sadness crept in.

“Yeah… but I was thinking. Maybe we could make sure she meets you? Like… casually?”

“Casually? As in a ‘coincidental meeting’?” I asked, smiling.

“Exactly,” she laughed. “We could bump into each other at the railway station.”

“I’m in,” I said. “I’ll be there with my best ‘just passing by’ expression.”

And so, the plan was set.

Next day evening, she texted: “We’re starting from home.” I was already waiting at the station… for two hours. “Come on,” I said. She replied with 😘.

The sun was setting, casting golden light over the bustling railway station. I stood on Platform No. 3, trying to calm my racing heart.

Then, I saw her. Our eyes met. She smiled — that smile I could never resist. Beside her stood a woman with graceful poise — her mother.

I feigned surprise. “Hey! What a coincidence to see you here!”

She played along perfectly. “Oh my gosh! What are you doing here?” Then she turned to her mother, “Mom, this is my friend I told you about.”

Her mom smiled. “Lovely to meet you. Are you from around here?”

“Yes,” I replied. “Just passing by. What a small world!”

The conversation flowed naturally. Her mother was kind and warm. Soon, the laughter started too.

“When she was little,” her mom said, “she was obsessed with bugs. I once found a jar of them in the kitchen!”

“Mom!” my girlfriend exclaimed. “You’re not supposed to tell that!”

I laughed. “That’s adorable. I would’ve helped you find more bugs!”

“Don’t encourage her,” her mom teased. “She was quite the handful.”

“And he,” my girlfriend said, “used to bunk classes just to watch movies. But don’t be fooled, top of the class!”

Her mom grinned. “Bunking, huh? And I thought you were the model student.”

“Guilty,” I laughed. “But never missed an exam!”

As the train horn blew, I knew the moment would be brief. But her mother’s warmth gave me hope.

“Take care,” she said. “And don’t be a stranger.”

As the train started moving, my girlfriend stood at the door. She didn’t wave — but her silky hair did. Her eyes sparkled as they met mine. That look said everything.

“I was loved by an angel. I felt complete with that glare.”

It was a fantastic evening. And I was more hopeful than ever about our future.

She went inside… and a few minutes later...
