👎 MORALLESS HISTORY 👎

breast tax

I would like to tell you about the long history of Mulakaram

I was completely dismayed knowing about this ruthless history,

Women in Kerala used to pay the tax to cover their breasts, those who were unable to pay, they should be naked with their upper body everywhere they go. This tax mainly inflicted on the Shudras and Dalit's to show this class "status"

The breast was unveiled as a symbol of respect to higher-status people only. In a society where men even share at the chasm, these women faced enslavement with naked breasts. Torn self-respect, declined confidence, and nasty stares eating the very pieces of diligence every day. Even the women who covered their breast were not spread, the officers (Demons) used to come and examine the size and weight of the taxpayer women with their own hands,  Utter disgrace.

Later, A woman named Nangeli protested against this law by cutting off her breasts and presenting them in front of the officer, however, she was died because of blood loss, which eventually resulted in mega protests. Finally, the heel piece law was removed, with the cost of a woman sacrificed her life.
